Yorkshire Dynasties

Many Yorkshire country houses are still owned by the families who built them. We shall study their history to reveal why they have survived and look at what the future holds.

This course will give students a working knowledge of the history of Yorkshire’s country house dynasties and with it reasons for their continued prominence.

Recent television exposure has increased interest in and awareness of house history research.

Our day school will follow a variety of sources to look at a particular property, the people who lived their and elements of local history that can be gleaned through the records

Students will be encouraged to follow-up their own personal research interests through websites and original material which may be held in libraries and archives.
